Picture Perfect...

I love pictures I always have. Although I know quite a few people who are considerable more knowledgeable about photography and have tons more talent, sometimes I get lucky. My favorite subject to take pictures of is Laura. Because we have quite a few photo shoots and I have to take multiple pictures to get that great shot, Laura is well trained in posing. My house is covered in pictures of Laura on the beach, at the park, on Vacation and just every day. Picking just a few to share is excruciatingly hard.

Waiting it out...

For the last week or so I have opened up my blog and stared at a blank page. Right now Sam is away at training in the Florida panhandle while Laura and I bunk at my parents house in south Florida. Being in between locations and stages in our lives has made it hard for me to blog. For once no major crises is trying to be adverted I am just waiting and giving our household goods a head start across the ocean. Normally patients is not my best attribute nor is dealing with the unknown, maybe I'm fooling myself but I think I am handling it quite well, dare I say even enjoying my time in the sunshine state!

Advice...

It seems that everywhere you turn people have something to say. Sometimes while well meaning, advice I receive is just plan crap.

In response to anxiety causing problems with conceiving a friend advised "Just take a deep breath and stop thinking about it". Why didn't I try that sooner!
People feel like they can never go wrong with the answer "Just have a glass of wine", yes that should help with anxiety about pregnancy getting a possible baby liquored up!
Another good example while discussing Laura's tonsils with a doctor he stated "when she stops breathing during the night we know there is a problem". I would hope so!
But some advise is invaluable the other day while using the bathroom at Del taco I read a sign that said "wash hand before handling food". Thanks I'll do that from now on.

Now I'm not one to talk about putting my foot in my mouth, sometimes it feels like things just tumble out of my mouth. But I have also heard some good ones. A couple of years ago I ran into a girl I went to high school with she asked what I was up to and I told her a little about my life. When I asked about her husband's new job she responded with "I don't like how dangerous being a firefighter is, but it could be worse he could be in the air force". Thanks

A finished family...

This month marks an end to a lot of things in our lives. An end to our time in Vegas, an end to the kindergarten school year, an end to our fertility treatments, an end to our time in the U.S. and an end to our hopes of expanding our family. We have a lot of good, exciting changes happening in our lives, but unfortunately with those positive changes come a few setbacks. We were told that while it isn't impossible it might be difficult to get a new prescription of clomid in Germany. When Sam and I discussed this months ago, we decided then that if we were not pregnant when it came time for our move we would suspend our fertility medications and treatment. The problem is that 5 months ago when this was all hypothetical it was easy for me to agree to "give up" when I was confident it wouldn't come to that, clomid would work. Three cycles later I have been proven wrong. I'm losing hope because how can I expect to conceive naturally when proven drugs haven't given us any positive results. I am optimistic that with a fresh start in a fresh country away from the ghosts that have haunted us in Vegas we will find harmony with our family weather it expands or not.

Moving out, moving up...

After a weekend of "camping out" on air mattresses in our empty house, we finally turned in the keys and moved out. We didn't go far yet though, just up the road a couple miles to the local hotel and casino. So far I am loving life here at Aliante! Not only do I get to sleep in an actual bed, but hotel and casino living has a lot to offer. Between the food court, pool, Movie Theater and maid I don't think I will ever want to leave. We got to spend our time after school lounging around the pool then we headed to the food court to choose what we each wanted to eat for dinner. Because these are our last couple of days in Vegas, we won't miss out on the $4.99 breakfast buffet in the morning either.
